DIY Parkour Tetris Block Plans

Here are another set of plans for a DIY parkour obstacle, this time a parkour tetris block. These blocks are great, as they provide a variety of different options for practicing your skills. There are 12″ and 24″ shelves for box jumps, and a 36″ high peak for vaulting. Plus, you can set it on an end to practice taks and wall climbs.

Even better, if you build multiples of these parkour tetris blocks, you can stack them together to create even more challenges and options.

Approximate cost of materials: $150.

Materials List

  • 5 – 4×8 sheets of 3/4″ plywood
  • 7 – 2x4s @ 8′

Tools Required

  • Miter saw
  • Table saw or circular saw
  • Jig saw (or a hand saw)
  • Drill / Driver
  • Construction Adhesive
  • 2 1/2″ wood screws
  • 1 1/2″ wood screws

Step 1: Build the 2×4 frames

Start building your parkour tetris block by building the four 2×4 frames. Each frame can be cut from one and a half 2x4s by cutting the following pieces:

  • 1 – 33″ piece
  • 1 – 26 1/2″ piece
  • 1 – 19 1/2″ piece
  • 1 – 12″ piece

Then cut the following pieces from the half a 2×4:

  • 1 – 12″ piece
  • 1 – 15″ piece
  • 1 – 7 1/2″ piece

Use construction adhesive and 2 1/2″ wood screws to secure all the joints.

Step 2: Join the frames

Cut your last 2×4 to 70 1/2″ in length; use construction adhesive and screws to attach the two end frames. Then attach the two interior frames approximately 18 7/8″ in from the inside edge of each exterior frame. There’s no need for any blocking on the other sides, as the plywood will provide this stability.

Step 3: Cut the plywood pieces

Now that you have the interior frame assembled, it’s time to move onto the plywood sheeting of these parkour tetris block plans. The sheeting requires five sheets of 4×8 plywood if you follow the color coding in the pictures below.

You’ll cut the two end pieces exactly the same. The remaining eight pieces are all unique, so be certain to follow diagrams below. This is mainly because of the interlocking tabs we’ve incorporated into this design. You can opt to not include the tabs to make the build easier, but they do allow you to join the plywood sheets to each other in both directions for additional stability.

Step 4: Attach the plywood

Once the plywood pieces are cut, use construction adhesive and 2 1/2″ wood screws to attach the sheets to the 2×4 frames. Then screw the plywood sheets together using the 1 1/2″ wood screws. Ensure to pre-drill all of the holes in the plywood first.

At this point, you’re done building your DIY parkour Tetris block and it’s time for any finishing (painting or staining) that you choose to do.
