I finally got around to building myself an air compressor cart last weekend. I was tired of lugging the air compressor in and out of the corner of my shop, and having the air compressor hose in a tangled mess somewhat on top of the compressor. I also wanted to get my nail guns off the shelf under my workbench. It just wasn’t a convenient spot for them.
My secondary goal was to use up some of the scraps laying around my shop, so that influenced a little bit of the design. The only thing I had to buy to finish this cart was a new box of pocket hole screws. I’m still in the process of figuring out everything I want to store on it though. I put in 2 shelves this weekend, one for glue accessories and one for nails and staples. I’ll figure out a way to better store my hose soon.
I plan on making this an extra mobile assembly assistant. So I added a sacrificial hardboard top to make it easy to replace after too much wear. I also designed this so I can use it as an an outfeed table for my table saw. So that hardboard can pop out, and I plan on having a piece of plywood with rollers that will drop in. I’ve got some other similar uses in mind that I haven’t fully flushed out yet.
You can find the plans for this air compressor cart, along with plans for a lot of other useful jigs and accessories in the Tools and Workshop section of our site.
