A quick toy house

I hesitate to call this a “doll house” because my little princess came to me (while I was in the middle of removing a wall between our kitchen and living room) and asked me to make her a Hatchimal house. If you don’t know what Hatchimals are, they are these tiny little figures that come in eggs or shells where the kids have to “hatch” them. My daughter easily has over a hundred of these things, and she loves playing with them.

So when she came to me asking me to build her this toy house, how could I refuse? I had some scrap 1/4″ plywood and hardboard laying out in the garage, so I sat down with her and figured out what she was thinking, then I went to work.

It really didn’t take me too long to build this little toy house, but the door and the hinges were definitely the trickiest part. Getting those tiny little screws in straight was not fun. The rest was pretty much all hot glue and brad nails. I made the major cuts on the table saw, and used a hand saw the cut out the stairs.

All-in-all, it was a great diversion from the regular projects I do. Though the happiness it brought to my little princess was definitely the best part. I love watching her play with her Hatchimals in here, and I even get to play in it with her from time to time too.
