The dado cuts would need to be half the width of the board you are going to be putting between the pieces of the leg. Typically the board is going to be a 2×4, which would mean 0.75″ (half of 1.5″). However, if you’ve milled down the 2×4 to remove the rounded corners that could slightly change the dimensions of the dado needed.
