Standard wood working bench and butt chisels are traditionally factory ground at an angle of 25°, and this works well fine for most wood work. However your chisel will cut better and the edge will last longer if you add a 5° microbevel to make a 30° cutting angle.
Also remeber that when you purchase your chisels they are not actually sharp. So you will need to sharpen them before your first use. Do a few passes on a super-fine grit sandpaper at 25° to get a mirror shine on the entire bevel. Then spend more time creating the microwave, starting with a fine grit and continuing all of the way up to a super fine grit.
