Finding the exact center of any board is easy. Lay a straight edge (ruler) across the board with an integer value lined up on one edge. Now, holding that edge in place, angle the straight edge until another integer lines up with the other edge. The center is the middle of the two. Example: 1 and 7 puts the center of the board at 4.
